General Animal Adoption Policy & Legacy Home Guidelines
Welcome to the adoption portal for the Paws Claws and Talons Foundation located in Hastings, Minnesota. We operate with a deep commitment to animal welfare, sustainable husbandry, and responsible stewardship. Because we do not operate a traditional physical storefront, our adoption process is uniquely coordinated through community outreach, secure virtual consultations, and direct placement into permanent, thriving environments.
1. The Philosophy of Our Legacy Home Program
Every animal in our care receives top-tier care, nutritional stabilization, and biosecure assessment before becoming available for adoption. We prioritize Legacy Home adoptions to ensure that our rescued pets transition into environments equipped for their long-term health, safety, and emotional stability.
2. Adopter Vetting & Preparation Standards
To ensure a successful match between our community members and our resident animals, our team evaluates potential adopters based on species-appropriate knowledge, stable housing environments, and proper care capabilities. Adopters must demonstrate an understanding of the specific environmental, dietary, and housing requirements tailored to the individual animal’s needs.
3. Adoption Fees & Community Impact
Unlike standard retail transactions, our adoption fees are structured as reduced Legacy Fees—typically 25 to 50 percent of retail value—reflecting our mission to remove financial barriers for dedicated pet keepers. 100 percent of all adoption and Legacy Fees go directly back into funding the Foundation’s Zero-Cost Pet Pantry and emergency community medical programs. Please note that all adoption fees are final and non-refundable.
4. The Lifelong Return Policy & Accountability
The Paws Claws and Talons Foundation maintains a lifelong commitment to every animal in our care. If an adopter’s circumstances change and they are no longer able to care for the pet, the animal must be returned directly to the Foundation. Animals adopted through our program may never be resold, privately rehomed, or surrendered to external shelters, ensuring uninterrupted lifetime protection and accountability. Please note that no refund or store credit will be issued when an animal is returned to us.
