Welcome to the official launch of a movement that is redefining how communities approach animal welfare, sustainability, and compassion. Founded in November 2025 and headquartered right here in Hastings, Minnesota, the Paws Claws and Talons Foundation was born from the vision, grit, and unwavering dedication of our CEO and Lead Engineer. What started as a passionate commitment to animal welfare and zero-waste sustainability has rapidly grown into a thriving community safety net. We have already secured our Certificate of Incorporation and official Employer Identification Number, and we have capital set aside ready for our 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status alongside cottage food and commercial feed licenses. We are purposefully holding at this stage to ensure our governance is rock-solid, and we are looking for the people who want to pick up a hammer and help us build this machine from the ground up.
The Mobile Advantage and Our Community Safety Net
At the heart of our work is a 100% volunteer-based model where every single person gives their time freely, ensuring that 100% of all proceeds go directly back into the nonprofit to support our mission. Our Safety Net is designed to keep families together by providing free food to households in need, alongside low-cost nail trims, grooming, and pet-sitting for the elderly and disabled who would otherwise struggle to care for their companions.
We operate entirely as a mobile service with no public storefront by design, removing transportation barriers and bringing direct support straight to doorsteps. We offer free food pickup for surrounding areas, free food delivery and supply distribution exclusively within Hastings city limits via the Waggin’ Wagon, and regional support with low-cost nail trims and pet-sitting for Prescott, Rosemont, and Cottage Grove.
The Zero-Waste Engine: From Dirt to Pantry
Sustainability is woven into our DNA through our zero-waste engine, where we transform waste into treasure. We make our own rich soil from scratch, growing natural ingredients in our greenhouse and blending donated food scraps, home-grown produce, and home-bred protein to process high-nutrient treats. Beyond our garden-to-pantry loop, we divert discarded materials from landfills to expertly refurbish them into low-cost gear, custom enrichment puzzles, and durable pet furniture.
Looking to the future, we are also laying the groundwork for The Thicket, a specialized exotic rescue wing designed for pocket pets and exotic species that require expert care, specialized nutrition, and compassionate chaos management.
The Education Engine and Our Digital Platform
Education serves as our renewable resource, operating as a living classroom that spans from microscopic springtails to whales and deep into the botanical world. Through Next-Gen Mentorship, we actively involve children in our gardening, upcycling, and care projects to foster a lifelong culture of compassion.
Alongside our physical operations, we manage an online private adoption platform designed to connect animals with compatible forever homes without the stress of traditional institutional environments, keeping adoptions transparent, community-driven, and personal.
The Collective: Missing Gears and Join the Movement
A foundation of this scale is built by a collective rather than a single visionary. We are currently searching for founding board members to fill key missing gears on our team:
- Secretary (The Archivist) to ensure our governance and institutional memory are as sharp as our mission.
- Treasurer (The Resource Architect) to help us manage our capital so every dollar builds our sustainability-first model.
- Legal Consultant (The Structural Shield) to act as an expert sanity-check for our creative, boundary-pushing playbooks.
