Our Infinite Ingredient Circle
At the Paws, Claws and Talons Foundation, we don’t believe in the curb. In a normal house, “scraps” disappear into a bin, but in our kingdom, those leftovers are treated like a valuable inheritance. The Nutrient Loop is our guarantee that every single organic resource is put back to work. If we have leftover stems from the Leafy Lodge or “ugly” produce that isn’t used for snacks, it goes straight into the Grime Gallery. Whether it’s a lonely carrot top or extra greenery from the greenhouse, it all returns to the earth to become “Elite Mud.” It’s a never-ending circle of life that ensures our biological engine never runs out of fuel and we always have the resources to support the pets of Hastings.
Reclaimed Assets: Turning “Extra” into Gold
We believe that what most people call “waste” is actually the high-octane fuel we need to help local animals. We accept donations of plant-based kitchen scraps and garden leftovers to turn into our world-class compost. We call these Reclaimed Assets because instead of sitting in a landfill, they are recycled through our garden to grow fresh, living vitamins for our pantry.
We are always scouting for:
- Vegetable Scraps (those leafy bits of carrots, lettuce, and broccoli)
- Fruit Remains (apple cores, banana peels, and melon rinds)
- Coffee Grounds (and the paper filters too!)
- Plain Brown Cardboard (just make sure the shiny tape and labels are removed)
- Dried Leaves and Straw (the crunchier, the better)
By donating your kitchen and garden extras, you are helping us build a “Circular Pet Economy” right here in town. If we have leftover plant matter that doesn’t go to feed the residents of the The Crawler Club, it goes straight into this system to make sure absolutely nothing is ever wasted.
A Note on Kingdom Integrity
To protect the health of our soil and the safety of the animals who eat our crops, we have to be very picky about what enters the loop. We cannot accept cooked foods, dairy, oils, meats, or any plant matter that has been treated with chemical pesticides. We also ask that you keep “shiny” or heavily inked paper and cardboard at home, as those can introduce unwanted toxins into our clean biological cycle. We like to keep our dirt as pure as the pets we serve.
